EAGLE MOUNTAIN STUDIO

Refusing veneers, staples, and composite fillers

We plane domestic hardwoods slowly so the natural character of the grain shows up unforced. Every table and case piece starts with rough-sawn lumber selected for grain and structural integrity.

Provenance

Pennsylvania walnut and regional Utah timber

We source FSC-certified domestic lumber from sustainable regional sawmills that practice selective harvesting. Each board is air-dried and kiln-conditioned to match the dry climate of the Wasatch Front.

Zero synthetic polyurethanes touch our pieces. Surfaces are sealed exclusively with hand-rubbed wax and natural oils that let the wood breathe and age gracefully over decades of daily use.

Workshop Steps

Four deliberate stages of construction

Lumber milling

Hand-cut joinery

Multi-grit sanding

Oil curing

Rough boards are squared, jointed, and planed to precise dimensions while preserving natural live edges and grain continuity.

Traditional mortise and tenon joints are cut by hand to lock timber pieces securely without relying on metal fasteners.

Surfaces are hand-sanded progressively through fine grits to reveal the deep chatoyancy and chatoyant warmth of the walnut.

Several coats of natural hardening oils are hand-rubbed into the pores, polymerizing to protect against spills and daily wear.

Endurance

A table shouldn't wobble twenty years in; we cut interlocking wood joints that hold tight through seasons of dry Utah air without failing.
